Custom Gummy Formulation: From Idea to Finished Product in 6 Steps

A custom-formulated gummy is the strongest moat a supplement brand can build — nobody else can sell your exact product. But what actually happens between your idea and a pallet of finished bottles? Here's the six-step process JUNO uses for every custom formulation.
Step 1–2: Recipe development and evaluation
Formulators translate your concept — actives, dosage, flavor direction, sugar or sugar-free — into a working pectin-based recipe, then evaluate it for taste, texture, active stability, and how well it masks botanical off-notes.
Step 3–4: Testing, analysis, and your approval
Samples go through lab testing to verify potency and consistency, and you receive them for a hands-on review. Nothing moves forward until you approve the taste, texture, look, and label claims.
Step 5–6: Large-batch trial and production
A scaled-up trial run confirms the recipe behaves identically at production volume. Then full production begins, followed by quality testing, third-party inspection, bottling, labeling, and fulfillment — shipped to your warehouse or directly to your customers via drop-shipping.
What you'll need to get started
Come with your target actives and dosages, any certifications you need, rough volume expectations, and packaging preferences. Supplying your own active ingredients can cut manufacturing costs significantly — up to 30% at JUNO.
